TOP 5 TIPS ON HOW TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF FOR A MORNING WORKOUT

Did you know morning workouts provides loads of benefits – more than just the satisfaction of telling your work colleagues that while they were sleeping you were getting your sweat on?

If you work out in the morning, you’re more likely to burn more calories throughout the day.

We’ve come up with 5 tips to help motivate you for a morning workout. See if you can finally kick fatigue and get started in the morning!

  1. Prepare your pre- and post-workout snack the night before.

To avoid pre-workout fatigue, try preparing some snacks the night before. Set your alarm for 15 minutes earlier, and grab a banana before you head out the door. Have your post-workout snack ready to eat as soon as you get home; even better, put it in your bag to eat on the way home from the gym. Don't forget to leave a note where you can see, so you don't forget to take your snack with you!

  1. Make sure you are getting enough sleep.

If you don't get enough sleep, it’s so much harder to feel motivated in the morning. Many health experts suggest getting at least eight hours of solid sleep a night; any less and you might not feel well rested. Go to bed 30 minutes earlier, and avoid alcohol if possible. It might take some time to get used to sleeping at an earlier time, but it will be worth it.

  1. Arrange to meet a friend

There is nothing better than having a training buddy to boost your motivation levels! Just imagine how grumpy they will be if they turn up to the gym to meet you only to find you are tucked up in bed at home! Avoid them having bragging rights over you by making sure you get to the gym before them. Training buddies keep you accountable (so do personal trainers!)

  1. Have coffee ready to go.

Research has proven that coffee can improve performance, so whether instant, pod or filter coffee, have it all set up ready to go.

  1. Lay out your gym gear the night before

Getting your gear ready makes it easier to get up, get dressed and go. If it’s all there, you won’t be scrambling around in the dark making excuses to get back into bed! If you are planning on showering at the gym, pack a change of clothes, shoes, toiletries, and any other supplies you might need. Imagine how much time you'll save by taking the time to pack in advance!
