Warm Up and Stretching

Physiological Aspects

So often I still see it time and time again. We have all been guilty of it but how often do we forget to take the time to have a thorough warm up of the body.

A thorough warm up which means increasing circulation, blood and muscle temperature followed by an appropriate stretching routine which should improve performance through the following… 

1. Increased rate of strength and muscle contraction 

2. An increased muscle contraction through any of the movements you might be performing eg squatting, running, pushing, jumping.

3. Improved cardiovascular and respiratory efficiency meaning getting oxygen to your muscles to improve your performance. 

4. And of course one that we sometime forget until it’s too late reducing the risk of injury.
